Art World Embraces Humor: From Duchamp to Nilsson, Comedy Gains Serious Recognition

Humor is gaining traction as a legitimate artistic approach in the art community, countering its previous neglect. Notable exhibitions include 'Gleefully Askew: A Gladys Nilsson Retrospective' at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, running until Nov. 29, featuring the 86-year-old member of Hairy Who. Curator Francesca Wilmott points out the uneven acknowledgment of male artists. Meanwhile, 'Punchline II' at Boston's Praise Shadows Gallery, co-curated by Atsuko Okatsuka and open until Aug. 8, showcases talents like Pat Oleszko and Sarah Cain.
