festival-fair · 2026-04-20

Art Week Tokyo is set to take place from November 5 to 9, 2025, featuring over 50 galleries and institutions. This event, a partnership between the Japan Contemporary Art Platform and Art Basel, includes several components like AWT Focus, AWT Video, AWT Talks, and AWT Bar. From November 7 to 9, an AWT Bus will provide transport between different locations. Atsuko Ninagawa started this initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic to revitalize the art scene. The AWT Focus exhibit, curated by Adam Szymczyk, will display more than 100 works by 60 artists at the Okura Museum of Art. Additionally, the exhibition 'Prism of the Real: Making Art in Japan 1989–2010' will showcase renowned artists, including Joan Jonas and Takashi Murakami. Ninagawa highlights the event’s unique approach, blending public and private efforts without charging participation fees.
