Art-Wall-Sticker: A Virtual Gallery for Democratic Art
Art-Wall-Sticker (AWS), established in 2001 by Gilles Touyard, merges kit-based mural art with a digital gallery experience. A total of twenty artists, including notable figures such as Daniel Buren, Bertrand Lavier, and Tatiana Trouvé, designed repeatable patterns for 15 m² wall installations. Managed by Medhi Besrour, ART-WALL-STICKER produces each edition in a limited run of 100 copies, with artists earning 33% of sales and receiving one out of every three unsold pieces. Each artist participates in the project for three years, comprising two years of creation followed by one year of auction. AWS operates without a physical venue, striving to democratize art access. Prices for the works are set at 995 francs. The initiative was showcased at Espace Paul Ricard in Paris from September 3 to 14, 2001.
