ART SG 2026 Emphasizes Sustainability with Strong Regional Presence and Sales

festival-fair · 2026-04-19

The fourth edition of ART SG commenced on January 22 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, coinciding with Singapore Art Week. This year’s event featured more than 100 galleries representing 30 nations. Curated by John Tung, the SEA Focus section highlighted Southeast Asian artistic practices. Notable large installations included pieces by Jitish Kallat, Bingyi, and Lee Bae. Performances by John Clang and Melati Suryodarmo were also part of the program. Citra Sasmita's Bedtime Stories showcased her sold piece, Cosmic Dance 2, for SGD 32,000. Regional collectors made purchases, including Imhathai Suwatthansilp's lightbox for USD 22,000 and a Tom Sachs sculpture for USD 30,000. The Singapore Art Museum acquired works through the SAM ART SG Fund, which now totals SGD 250,000, with a focus on sustainability rather than spectacle.
