Art Rizoma Festival Launches in Calabria with 30+ Artists

The inaugural Art Rizoma, a contemporary art festival aimed at cultivating social connections and enhancing identity, is scheduled from July 9 to September 20, 2022, across three towns in Calabria: Gerace, Roccella Ionica, and Santa Caterina dello Ionio. Organized by the Fondazione Rocco Guglielmo of Catanzaro, the event is overseen by curators Alessandro Romanini and Rocco Guglielmo. More than 30 artists from Italy and abroad will showcase their work under the theme '8 Minuti dal Sole' (8 Minutes from the Sun), symbolizing the urgency of issues like the pandemic, war, and climate change. The term 'Rizoma' signifies a plant growth process that thrives in difficult environments, underscoring the resilience of art. Key venues include churches in Gerace, Castello Carafa in Roccella Ionica, and Palazzo di Francia in Santa Caterina dello Ionio, featuring artists such as Arman, Christian Balzano, and Michelangelo Pistoletto, among others.
