Art press dossier on Chinese contemporary art abroad
The French magazine art press has published a dossier examining the recent surge of Chinese contemporary art abroad, timed to coincide with the exhibition "Alors, la Chine?" at the Centre Pompidou (May 25 to October 13, 2003) and the subsequent Year of China in France (October 2003 to July 2004). The dossier contrasts French and Chinese perspectives on this artistic boom. Fei Dawei, a Chinese art critic living between France and China, contributes an analysis of how a wave of artists leaving China has driven the gradual development of Chinese contemporary art overseas.
