Art Paris Art Fair Turns 20 with Curated Anniversary Edition

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

Art Paris Art Fair, founded in 1999, celebrates its 20th anniversary with the 2018 edition running April 5-8 at the Grand Palais. The fair features 142 galleries from 23 countries, with Switzerland as guest of honor. It focuses on European art from post-war to contemporary, highlighting new horizons from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Only three Italian galleries participate, all in the Promises section for galleries under six years old: Francesca Antonini Arte Contemporanea (Rome) with Guglielmo Castelli, Sabrina Casadei, Antonello Viola; Galleria AnnaMarra (Rome) with Davide Bramante, Claudia Peill, Michael Ryan; Montoro12 (Rome, Brussels) with Isobel Church, Luis Felipe Ortega, Steve Sabella. Curator and critic François Piron selected 20 artists from participating galleries for an in-depth analysis. The curated path features monographic exhibitions including Frédéric Pardo's psychedelic works (Galerie Loevenbruck), Hessie's feminist embroideries (Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre), Blek le Rat's street art stencils (Galerie Ange Basso), Geneviève Asse's blue monochromes (Galerie Oniris Florent Paumelle), and Vincent Gicquel's tragicomic paintings (Galerie Thomas Bernard Cortex Athletico). The preview on April 5 is by invitation only.
