Art Parcours 2016: Installations in Basel's Old Town
Art Parcours, now in its seventh year, continues to place artworks in Basel's historic center, though the novelty has worn off as the route repeats in the same small district around the cathedral. Despite this, the event retains charm by forcing visitors to explore alleys, squares, and museums they might otherwise miss during Art Basel. This year's edition is not particularly brilliant, but highlights include Jim Dine's room at the Museum of Ancient Art with lettering, wooden muses, and a self-portrait; Allan McCollum's 300 wooden spinning tops at the Museum der Kulturen (designed by Herzog & de Meuron); Virginia Overton's folded truck; and Daniel Gustav Cramer's sound installation dedicated to the world's oceans.
