Art Night Venezia 2020 goes digital for 10th anniversary

digital · 2026-04-27

The 10th edition of Art Night Venezia, originally scheduled for June 20, 2020, has been canceled due to the pandemic. Instead, the event—conceived and coordinated by Università Ca’ Foscari in collaboration with the Comune di Venezia—will offer alternative digital initiatives. Silvia Burini, professor at Ca’ Foscari and scientific director of Art Night Venezia, stated that the usual large-scale night of museum openings, performances, concerts, and talks was impossible under current restrictions. To mark the anniversary, a video preview will be launched on June 20 at 6 PM on the Art Night Venezia website, with a full emotional video celebrating the past ten editions planned for autumn. Additionally, a new project called Art Day will be introduced, a weekly Wednesday agenda listing programs and activities from participating institutions. A call for artists, ANV Restyling 2020, invites artists worldwide to create a limited-edition logo element for the 10th anniversary, to be used in 2021. Burini emphasized that the pandemic has not defeated the initiative, which began as her idea a decade ago and has become a beloved event for Venetians.
