Art Monte Carlo acquired by Informa Prestige, eyes expansion
The 10th edition of Art Monte Carlo took place from April 29 to May 1, 2025, in the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco, with a vernissage on April 28. The fair, now under the ownership of Informa Prestige—a luxury offshoot of Informa that also owns Miami's Untitled and New York's Independent art fairs—features 26 exhibitors, including heavyweights like Christophe Van der Weghe and Almine Rech alongside smaller galleries such as Barovier & Toso. Executive chair John Paton stated the company's strategy to increase market presence, citing complementary audiences in yachting and supercars. The fair's slot was moved from July to April, a change welcomed by dealers. Sales were mixed: Hartford/Lampronti gallery sold a Poussin painting for €1.3 million, while 193 Gallery sold four works including Rob Butler's 'After the Rain' (2025) for €6,000–€9,000. Van der Weghe reported only one sale, Frederic Anderson's 'Psychotic Break' (2024) for $38,500. The fair is not yet profitable, but Paton plans to double its size within two years and hinted at expansion to another location, voicing 'global ambitions'.
