Art Market Confidence Hits Record Low, Singapore Fair Postponed, and Emma Amos Dies at 83
According to a survey conducted by ArtTactic, confidence in the art market has plummeted by 85% since September 2019, now standing at a mere 6.4 out of 100, which is even lower than during the 2008 financial crisis. The ART SG fair in Singapore has been rescheduled to November 2021 at Marina Bay Sands. Emma Amos, an artist celebrated for her politically engaged artwork, passed away at the age of 83; her pieces were featured in Tate Modern's 'Soul of a Nation' exhibition. Etel Adnan received the 2020 Griffin International Poetry Prize, sharing CAD65,000 with translator Sarah Riggs. Nicholas Serota has joined a UK task force under Neil Mendoza to assist in reopening cultural venues. Norway's KODE museum is facing bankruptcy, while the Rothko Chapel in Houston plans to reopen in September. Additionally, the Sharjah Art Foundation has granted $200,000 to ten artists, and Manifesta 13 has been postponed to August-November 2021.
