Art Mapping Piemonte: A New Guide and Three Site-Specific Works

Art Mapping Piemonte, a new print guide to cultural and gastronomic destinations in the Piedmont region, was announced. The project is a collaboration between Artissima (directed by Ilaria Bonacossa, who curated the artistic section with Vittoria Martini), Gambero Rosso (providing food recommendations), Fondazione Torino Musei (producer), and Artribune (distributor). The guide will be divided by area and include public art highlights. Three international artists will create site-specific works: Mario Airò (born 1961, Pavia) will install a sculptural piece inspired by time and memory at the deconsecrated church of San Remigio in Parodi (Alessandria); Nathalie du Pasquier (born 1957, Bordeaux) will transform the water tower in Novello (Cuneo) into a metaphysical monument; Zhang Enli (born 1965, Jilin, China) will fresco the rural chapel of Montabone (Asti) with a camouflage effect. The guide will be distributed widely across Piedmont. Antonella Parigi, Assessor to Culture and Tourism of the Piedmont Region, stated the initiative aims to link tourism and cultural development, with contemporary art as a driver. The guide and artworks are part of a broader mapping that will continue after summer.
