Art Jameel Selects Theories of Imagination for Dubai Public Art Commission
Art Jameel has engaged the UAE-based design group Theories of Imagination (TOFI) to create the Jaddaf Playscape, which is part of the Dubai Public Art initiative by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. The jury, featuring Cecilia Alemani, Wael Al Awar, Amal Khalaf, and Nora Razian, chose TOFI from almost 100 submissions. Special recognition was given to Carla Baz, Evan Collisson, and the partnership of Jumairy and Lina Younes. TOFI's design, titled "I Dreamt of a City Everyone Calls Home," is an interactive playground and sculpture that pays tribute to Jaddaf's boatyard heritage. It will be unveiled at Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park in autumn 2023 and will remain for four years. Art Jameel is partnering with Art Dubai, Tashkeel, Alserkal, and Akaas Visual Arts.
