institutional · 2026-04-20

Art Jameel will launch a second arts centre in Saudi Arabia, complementing its existing Dubai location. Scheduled to debut in 2019, the three-storey Hayy: Creative Hub spans 17,000 square metres in north Jeddah. Designed by ibda design, the facility incorporates traditional Middle Eastern architectural elements like internal courtyards and shaded terraces to foster community interaction. The multidisciplinary venue will feature exhibitions of modern and contemporary art from local and international artists, alongside comedy, theatre, and film screenings. Additional programming includes conferences, professional and amateur performances, a digital hub for producers and directors, community markets, and educational events for all ages. Announced on 14 February 2018, the centre aims to be a community-oriented space, with its name 'Hayy' derived from the Arabic word for 'neighbourhood'. The Dubai centre is set to open in winter 2018.
