Art Jameel announces Dubai arts centre for 2018, partners with Met for Middle East acquisitions

A 10,000 square metre arts centre designed by Serie Architects will open in Dubai's Culture Village in 2018. The Jameel Arts Centre Dubai will host exhibitions from the Jameel Art Collection alongside regional and international shows. Programming will be advised by Jessica Morgan of the Dia Art Foundation and curator Murtaza Vali. Art Jameel has established a long-term partnership with New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art through the Art Jameel Fund. This fund will support acquisitions of modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art for the Met while funding global programming and Arabic educational translations. The organization has opened a temporary Project Space at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, currently featuring work by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. The centre will serve as a hub for educational initiatives, research programs, and outdoor sculpture displays. Art Jameel is a non-profit organization focused on arts and education in the Middle East.
