Art Institute of Chicago's 'Lee Miller: Fearless' Reexamines Photographer's Legacy

The Art Institute of Chicago is presenting 'Lee Miller: Fearless,' the first major museum showcase of the photographer's work in over 25 years. This exhibition, created in partnership with Tate Britain and Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, includes almost 150 of Miller's works among more than 230 photographs and archival materials. Highlights feature portraits of icons like Pablo Picasso and Charlie Chaplin, a poignant scene from the London Blitz, her collaboration with Man Ray, and striking images from the liberation of concentration camps, which the museum describes as both candid and unsettling. The exhibition runs from August 29 to December 7, 2026, aiming to celebrate Miller's impactful photographic journey. Matthew Witkovsky, the chair and curator, noted Miller's multifaceted nature as both brave and conflicted.
