Art Institute of Chicago receives $400M contemporary art donation
In a historic move, the Art Institute of Chicago will receive a groundbreaking donation of 42 contemporary art pieces from local benefactors Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson, valued at $400 million. This contribution marks the museum's largest single donation to date. The collection features iconic works by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Jeff Koons, and Cindy Sherman, created between 1953 and 2011. Starting January 2016, these masterpieces will be showcased in the Modern Wing's second-floor galleries, where they will remain on display for the next five decades, officially named the Edlis/Neeson Collection.
