In 2018, Art Dubai celebrated its 12th edition by launching the Residents artist residency program, which included eleven artists such as Turkish Jennifer Ipekel and US-based José Lerma, who hails from Spain. These residencies lasted between four to eight weeks. The event took place at Madinat Jumeirah and featured a record 105 galleries from 48 nations. It showcased a mix of galleries from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, alongside prominent European participants like Italy's Franco Noero and France's Templon. Galeria Vermelho represented Brazil with Cinthia Marcelle's NAU/NOW. The fair also comprised a modern art gallery section and the exhibition That Feverish Leap into the Fierceness of Life, curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, highlighting five artist groups from Arab cities. The opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the UAE's luxury tourism initiatives were also noteworthy backdrops.
