Art Critic Pandora Storm Stages Silent Protest at Valboir Art/Climate Summit

In January, art critic Pandora Storm participated in the Valboir Art/Climate Summit held in the Swiss Alps, where she was compensated with 4,000 Swiss francs for her insights. The summit, named Anthropo(s)cene, brought together 20 global artists and activists to discuss climate concerns. Storm had previously stepped down from her position as the 2021 Critic-in-Residence at the Lyle museum in December due to its sponsorship by BP, earning her a spot on The Custodian's 'Cultural Agitators to Watch in 2022' list. At the event, she encountered works such as Milo Morales's 'Untitled (Global Capital = Chronic Precarity #18)' and an ice-sculpted Louis Vuitton storefront by Ekblad and Boogman. Tensions arose between Storm and curator Martin Ruffles, leading to a silent protest during her address, which saw 52 attendees lying down in support. Subsequently, she received an invitation to an oil exhibition in Norway.
