Art Club at Villa Medici celebrates two years with site-specific works
Celebrating its second anniversary, Art Club, an initiative launched by curator Pier Paolo Pancotto at Villa Medici in Rome, has been inviting artists since 2016 to develop site-specific works within the villa. These interventions are designed to forge emotional and intellectual ties, selected after several site visits. The ephemeral and experimental nature of the creations encompasses performance, installation, and various other media. Notable participants over the past two years include Cy Twombly, whose rarely displayed sculpture was featured, alongside Nico Vascellari, Joseph Griffiths, and Martin Creed, among others. The project also collaborated with RAM-radioartemobile during Notte Bianca in 2016 and 2017, leading to the sound installation "ἐπιφάνεια/Épiphanies." Upcoming events include "23#, Club to club" on April 12, 2018, and "24#" on May 3, 2018, highlighting Marinella Senatore's performance. The format has remained consistent, emphasizing contemporary creativity and fostering public dialogue under director Muriel Mayette-Holtz.
