Art Beats: Bologna Museums Host Sonic Installations for Free Weekend
On September 16-17, 2023, seven Bologna museums will host site-specific sound installations as part of Art Beats, a project by the Settore Musei Civici di Bologna and AEB Industriale. AEB, a Bologna-based sound systems company founded in 1973, celebrates its 50th anniversary with this partnership. The installations, created by local composers and musicians, are inspired by each museum's collections. For the Museo internazionale e Biblioteca della musica, Beatrice Antolini (b. 1982, Macerata) composed a piece blending piano, harpsichord, and electronic music. Admission is free. QR codes will permanently link to the works for future visitors. Eva Degl'Innocenti, director of the Musei Civici di Bologna, called the collaboration a virtuous public-private model that offers a new museum experience.
