Art Basel Rent Deal, ADAA Fair Debut, and More Art Industry News
Under a new rental agreement with Miami Beach, Art Basel stands to save as much as $9 million over a decade, reducing its yearly rent from nearly $1 million to between $400,000 and $500,000. The city will also subsidize $300,000 for police and fire services. In return, Art Basel will allocate $100,000 for transportation expenses and agree to a 10-year contract, despite a preference for five years. The ADAA Fair is set to launch at New York's Park Avenue Armory from November 13–16, while the 14th edition of 1-54 London will take place from October 15–18. Fine Arts Paris is scheduled for September 12–23, and Art Athina's 33rd edition is on November 13–16. A Monet will headline a Christie's Paris auction on October 22, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is set to open on December 11.
