Art Basel Miami Beach Reports Strong Sales and Regionalization Trend

In December, Art Basel Miami Beach drew around 83,000 attendees over a span of five days, with galleries reporting robust sales. A noticeable shift towards regionalization emerged, as collectors showed a preference for local editions. Latin American art saw significant success, highlighted by Brazilian galleries Galeria Nara Roesler and Bergamin & Gomide, which sold works by artists such as Vik Muniz and Tomie Ohtake. Both galleries are set to participate in Art Basel Hong Kong from March 29-31, where they will feature artists like Xavier Veilhan and Jac Leirner. The Hong Kong fair will host 242 galleries from 35 nations, emphasizing Asian artists and including a Film sector showcasing 27 works.
