Art Basel Miami Beach 2024 Showcases Arab Artists and Awards Amid Market Concerns
The Miami Beach Convention Center hosts Art Basel Miami Beach 2024, featuring more than 250 exhibitors until December 7. Although there are limited galleries from the MENA region, several prominent Arab artists are showcased. Nairy Baghramian received the Established Artist award for her piece Waste Basket (2017) at Marian Goodman Gallery. Meriem Bennani was honored with the Boss prize, while Mohammad Alfaraj took home the Emerging Artist accolade. The Jameel Arts Centre was nominated for the Institutions prize, which went to Dakar's RAW Media Company. Negar Azimi triumphed in the new storytellers category. Artists such as Ghada Amer, Hayv Kahraman, and others are exhibiting their works. Sales in the initial two days have alleviated market worries ahead of Art Basel Qatar in February.
