Art Basel Leadership Transition: Sam Keller Departs for Fondation Beyeler, Trio Takes Over
Sam Keller concludes his tenure as Art Basel Director in December after leading the fair since 2000, having been involved with the organization since 1994. He will assume leadership of the Fondation Beyeler in Basel following the final Miami Beach edition under his watch. A three-person team will replace Keller: Cay Sophie Rabinowitz becomes Artistic Director, Annette Schönholzer oversees organization and finances, and Marc Spiegler handles strategy and development. Rabinowitz previously served as senior editor at Swiss art magazine Parkett, while Schönholzer has been show director of Art Basel Miami Beach since its 2002 launch. Spiegler comes from a background as a freelance art journalist. This transition marks a significant moment for Art Basel, which Keller helped establish as the art calendar's most important fair while also developing its Miami Beach counterpart.
