Art Basel Launches First Cities Partnership with Buenos Aires

Art Basel has announced its first collaboration with a city, partnering with Buenos Aires, which extends beyond its established events in Basel, Miami, and Hong Kong. This initiative, set to commence in November, will include workshops and events designed to enhance the cultural landscape of Buenos Aires by providing structural assistance to artists, galleries, nonprofits, and public institutions. In 2017, the focus will shift to the Art Basel Cities Exchange, which will offer internship programs, crowdfunding initiatives, curatorial residencies, artist exchanges, and mentorship opportunities. An announcement regarding internships for young professionals in Buenos Aires with international galleries will come this autumn. Additionally, a week of public art programming curated by Cecilia Alemani from New York's High Line Art is planned for September 2018. The partnership aims to elevate the city's cultural vibrancy on a global scale through Art Basel's vast network, with discussions involving local cultural partners scheduled throughout the year.
