festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Art Basel's OVR: Portals, a specially curated digital version of its Online Viewing Rooms, is available until June 19, 2021, showcasing 94 galleries from 29 different nations. Curators Magali Arriola, Christina Li, and Larry Ossei-Mensah emphasize contemporary sociopolitical themes from 2020, such as the pandemic and political unrest. Notable features include Sawangwongse Yawnghwe addressing Myanmar's crisis, works by Yoan Capote and Hank Willis Thomas exploring governance, Liam Gillick's take on corporate culture, and Tomas Saraceno's focus on planetary coexistence. Additionally, William Eggleston's pieces from the 1970s-80s reflect uncertainty, while Richard Saltoun Gallery exhibits Violetta Costello and Holly Stevenson. Five galleries are participating for the first time. Noah Horowitz remarked that the platform brings forth new curatorial perspectives.
