Art Basel Hong Kong 2024 Returns to Pre-Pandemic Scale with 243 Galleries
The 2024 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong showcases 243 galleries from 40 nations, an increase of 66 exhibitors compared to the previous year. It comprises five distinct sectors, including Conversations and Film programs, along with partnerships with local institutions. The Encounters sector, overseen by Alexie Glass-Kantor, features 16 projects themed 'I am a part of all that I have met,' presenting 11 new works. An off-site project by Aboriginal artist Daniel Boyd will be displayed at Pacific Place, organized by Kukje Gallery and Station. The Film program, curated by Li Zhenhua, is scheduled for March 27-30 at HKCEC, while Conversations, led by Stephanie Bailey, will host 11 panels and off-site discussions. Collaborations with M+ include Yang Fudong's architectural film, with cultural partners like 1a Space.
