Art Basel Expands Advisory Services Across Asia

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Art Basel is launching a new advisory service for fairs and cultural organizations across Asia, leveraging its Hong Kong presence. The Swiss fair giant has already partnered with Singapore's S.E.A. Focus (January 15–23, 2022) to manage its communications and programming, aiming to strengthen its Southeast Asian market reach. Another client is Art Week Tokyo (November 4–7, 2021), which will feature museums, galleries, and art spaces in a program to revive the local scene post-pandemic. Adeline Ooi, Art Basel's Asia director, told Artnet News that the pandemic taught them to collaborate and create meaningful projects, and they are happy to support S.E.A. Focus's success. This new activity will not affect Art Basel's commitment to its Hong Kong fair, scheduled for March 2022, which Ooi calls the flagship of their Asian work. Meanwhile, Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 2–4, 2021, with 254 galleries from 36 countries, including 43 debutants. The fair offers a virtual platform (Art Basel Live) and satellite booths for absent galleries. Sections include Galleries (186 exhibitors), Positions (emerging artists), Nova (25 galleries with new works by up to three artists), Survey (pre-2000 works), Editions (prints), Kabinett, and Meridians (monumental works and performances).
