Art Basel 2018: 17 new galleries, Unlimited section revamp, and Italian contingent

Art Basel 2018 is set to feature 293 exhibitors, an increase from 291 in the previous year, with 17 galleries participating for the first time, such as Galerie Bernard Bouche from Paris, Barbara Gross Galerie in Munich, and San Francisco's Hosfelt Gallery. Italian galleries include Alfonso Artiaco from Naples and Galleria Continua from San Gimignano. The fair will encompass various sections: Galleries, Feature, Statements, Edition, Unlimited, and Parcours. Curated by Gianni Jetzer, the Unlimited section will have its own website and relocate to Hall 1. Statements will present 18 projects, including a video portrait by Lawrence Abu Hamdan depicting families divided by the Israel-Syria border, while Feature highlights 2017 Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid at Hollybush Gardens and previously unseen works by Jay DeFeo at Hosfelt Gallery.
