Art Basel 2015 Highlights: Parcours Opening, Exhibitions, and Design Awards
Art Basel 2015 showcased a variety of exhibitions and events throughout Basel. The Parcours program commenced on June 17 at Münsterplatz, attended by curator Florence Dérieux and Art Basel director Marc Spiegler. Alicia Framis unveiled her installation 'Habitación de Libros Prohibidos/Forbidden Book Room' (2014) in the Konzilssaal at Basler Münster, featuring dimensions of 250 x 250 x 250 cm, constructed with wood, electrical fittings, cushions, and 190 books. Rirkrit Tiravanija presented 'Do We Dream Under the Same Sky' at Messeplatz. Galleries introduced new artworks, including Matti Braun's 'Untitled' (2015) at Esther Schipper, Steven Shearer's 'Sleep Triptych' (2015) at Gavin Brown Enterprises, and Martin Honert's 'VSG-Gruppe' (2015) at Johnen Galerie. The Kunsthalle Basel exhibition 'Anicka Yi: 7,070,430K of Digital Spit' also opened. On June 17, Design Miami/Basel hosted a dinner at Hotel Krafft honoring the 2015 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award recipients: Tomás Alonso, Elaine Yan Ling Ng, and Studio Swine.
