ART AFRICA Announces Open Call for 2nd New Futures Arts Collaborative 2026 in Cape Town

ART AFRICA magazine has issued an open call for the second edition of the New Futures Arts Collaborative, scheduled for 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The residency, themed 'De-composition, Extraction and Regeneration,' invites artists to collectively explore strategies for addressing interconnected global crises—environmental, economic, social, and political. Participants will reflect on extractive relationships, from historical mining to contemporary conditions of surveillance, consumerism, and AI. The program emphasizes shifting from extraction to decomposition, from taking to returning, and from accumulation to composting, using decay as a vital phase for transformation. Artistic practices are positioned as tools for contestation, resistance, and regeneration within the context of ongoing polycrisis.
