ARS22: Living Encounters at Kiasma Showcases Contemporary Art Since 1960s
In Helsinki, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma is presenting ARS22, the tenth edition of its renowned international contemporary art exhibition series that began in 1961. The show spans all floors of the Kiasma building, featuring innovative artists exploring themes like everyday life, hopes, and our relationships with nature, history, spirituality, and technology. It includes new commissions and live performances at the Kiasma Theatre and other exhibition areas. Additionally, ARS22 showcases significant works from the past, starting from the 1960s, drawn from Kiasma's own collection and international loans to provide historical context. The exhibition wraps up in autumn 2022 with the Lithuanian opera Sun and Sea, which won the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, staged at Merikaapelihalli in collaboration with the Helsinki Festival.
