Ars Sine Finibus: first permanent cross-border art park between Italy and Slovenia opens in 2025

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The first permanent cross-border art park between Italy and Slovenia, Ars Sine Finibus, will be inaugurated on September 5, 2025, at Azienda Agricola Gradis'ciutta in San Floriano del Collio. The project is conceived by wine producers Robert Princic and Matjaž Četrtič, and is part of the cultural program for Gorizia and Nova Gorica as European Capital of Culture 2025. Central to the park are two multisensory spheres titled So(g)no by artist Marco Nereo Rotelli, each four meters high and made of eco-sustainable COR-TEN steel, located in Giasbana (Italy) and Kojsko (Slovenia), 15 km apart. The spheres contain lights, sounds, poetic texts, and ceramic installations exploring identity, language, and the human-environment bond. Other contributions include 25 ceramics by Giorgio Celiberti in a personal Via Lucis, a talking vine by Nobel Prize for Climate winner Riccardo Valentini, a sound piece by musician Alessio Bertallot, and poems by Valerio Magrelli (Italy) and Aleš Šteger (Slovenia). The park originated as a public competition for artists under 35 from Italian and Slovenian academies, who created site-specific works using sustainable materials. Installations are distributed along a walkable itinerary through vineyards and rural paths. The project aims to foster cross-border collaboration and environmental awareness.
