Arquitetura Nova Group Spotlighted at Orléans Architecture Biennale

The Biennale d’Architecture d’Orléans is approaching its conclusion, with the second edition organized by Frac Centre Orléans and curated by Abdelkader Damani and Luca Galofaro. Titled "Dreams seen up close," the exhibition focuses on the Brazilian collective Arquitetura Nova, which was active during the 1960s, and is hosted at Collégiale Saint-Pierre-le-Puellier. Curator Davide Sacconi notes that Sérgio Ferro, Flávio Imperio, and Rodrigo Lefèvre, who studied at the University of São Paulo, introduced a social manifesto regarding the architect's responsibilities. Their work, shaped by the development of Brasília, was interrupted by the 1964 coup, leading to the arrest of Ferro and Lefèvre in 1970. The biennale, featuring contributions from Ricardo Porro, Lacaton & Vassal, and others, will continue until January 19, 2020, with plans for a book and a London exhibition in the future.
