Arper produces Lina Bo Bardi's Bowl Chair in limited edition for centenary

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Arper has released a limited edition of 500 Bowl Chairs designed by Lina Bo Bardi in 1951 but never produced. The chair, a hemispherical seat on a metal ring allowing multiple inclinations, is presented in Treviso at Palazzo Giacomelli in an exhibition curated by Noemi Blager and designed by Madelon Vriesendorp. The installation blends anthropological elements, video, and a reconstruction of the tropical Brazilian context where Bo Bardi moved after WWII. Bo Bardi, who began her career as a collaborator of Giò Ponti and director of Domus, is known for public projects that merge modernist concerns with attention to social classes. Proceeds from sales will fund research into her work and social programs of the Instituto Lina Bo e P. M. Bardi. The exhibition runs until December 15, 2014.
