Aronne Pleuteri's 'Mototrombe' Sound Sculptures Lead Itinerant Concert Through Milan

festival-fair · 2026-04-17

On April 17, 2026, at 5 PM, Milan will host a unique itinerant concert titled 'Mototrombe' featuring sound sculptures by artist Aronne Pleuteri. The performance will begin at Piazza Duca d'Aosta in front of Stazione Centrale and conclude at Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angeli. Composer Dario Buccino will lead the 'mototrombisti' through the city. Pleuteri, born in Erba in 2001 and now active in Milan, created the hybrid instruments from salvaged automotive industry materials. These sculptures produce vibrations ranging from mechanical roars to almost human lamentations, explicitly referencing the Futurist tradition and Luigi Russolo's 'intonarumori'. The event blends performance art with a contemporary reinterpretation of historical avant-gardes, placing sound and noise at the center of the artistic experience. The instruments will remain on public display at the church until April 26. Pleuteri, a graduate of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, was a finalist in the 23rd edition of Premio Cairo and is the youngest artist included in the Collezione Iannaccone. His work spans performance, painting, and video art, often exploring themes of embarrassment, absurdity, and social conventions through destabilizing theatrical devices. 'Mototrombe' transforms this vision into a collective experience where sound becomes a tool for both disorientation and reconfiguration of reality.
