Aromia moschata: An Epiphany in Versilia

In early July 2020, a 43-year-old man observed a Cerambyx beetle flying near Lake Porta in Versilia. The insect, an Aromia moschata, hovered three meters above the ground with open wings and curled antennae, its faint buzz punctuating the silence. Over subsequent days, as heat intensified and no wind blew from the sea, the man decided to materialize this epiphany. Using scissors and string, he built aerial traps from plastic bottles cut and inverted into funnels, hung on willow branches, and baited with light beer, wine, and discarded peaches from the orchard.
