Arnaud Labelle-Rojoux's book 'Twist Tropiques' has been published by Loevenbruck / Yellow Now. The cover features three bas-reliefs of Marx, Engels, and Lenin, each with the face of Coco Chanel. Inside, the book is a faux-thematic abécédaire collecting about forty texts written from the early 1980s to the present, ranging from 'A tel Aéroplane (L')' to 'W for Who’s That Guy? About Jean Dupuy', including 'D for Davy Crockett, The Man Who Never Existed' and 'T for Teach Me Tiger'. The texts originate from prefaces, press articles, poems, stories, embryonic fictions, songs, interviews, and letters, interspersed with images and drawings by the artist. Each text explores theoretical reflection, the author's own practice, or that of another artist, often a fellow traveler. The book includes texts for the stage, for Labelle-Rojoux's own performances, or for shows by the Zerep company (Sophie Pérez and Xavier Boussiron), with whom he regularly collaborates. The writing is sharp and biting, blending different cultures, juxtaposing refined thoughts of Ryan Gander, Bernard Heidsieck, or Éric Duyckaerts with lyrical flights about girl groups like the Ronettes ('Be My Baby', p. 75).
