Armory Show 2017 leads New York art fair week with global galleries
The Armory Show returns to New York's Pier 92 and 94 from March 2 to 5, 2017, featuring over 200 galleries from 30 countries across five sections. The main Galleries section includes Italian participants Cardi Gallery, Galleria Continua, Kaufmann Repetto, Galleria d'Arte Maggiore G.A.M., Mazzoleni, Francesca e Massimo Minini, Monitor, Lorcan O'Neill, P420, Lia Rumma, and Vistamare. Insights focuses on 20th-century art with Lorenzelli Arte, Galleria d'Arte Maggiore G.A.M., and Montrasio Arte. Presents highlights young galleries, with Laveronica representing Italy. The Focus section, curated by Jarrett Gregory under the title 'What Is To Be Done?', includes Apalazzo Gallery and Michela Rizzo. A new Platform section, curated by Eric Shiner and titled 'An Incident', features site-specific installations by 14 international artists including Douglas Coupland, Ai Weiwei, and Yayoi Kusama. Talks involve David Salle, Studio Drift, Glenn O'Brien, and Jeffrey Deitch. Concurrent fairs include Volta at Pier 90, Art on Paper at Pier 36, The Art Show at Park Avenue Armory (29th edition, organized by ADAA), Spring/Break Art Show at 4 Times Square (6th edition), Independent at Spring Studios Tribeca, Nada at Skylight Clarkson North (6th edition, with Italian galleries 1/9unosunove and Neochrome), Clio Art Fair (self-described 'anti-fair' featuring Carla Accardi, Maurizio Cattelan, and Piero Manzoni), and Scope at Metropolitan Pavilion (17th edition).
