Armenian Disco Soundtrack for a Car Ride from Artissima to Turin's Periphery
At Artissima, Armenian-Lithuanian artist Andrius Arutiunian presents 'Armen,' a performance featuring a 42-minute car journey from Turin Lingotto (Oval, the Artissima venue) to Associazione Barriera in the outskirts. Participants ride in a 1993 Mercedes 200, enjoying a cassette of Armenian diaspora disco music curated by Arutiunian from his collection of cassettes, vinyl, and VHS tapes dating from the 1970s to the 1990s. This route, connecting the center to the periphery, is organized by Sergey Kantsedal and Agnieszka Faferek. Coinciding with the group exhibition 'Stories we carry,' which opens on November 2 during Colazione a Barriera, the exhibition includes works by various artists. Additionally, Arutiunian will showcase a solo presentation with eastcontemporary from Milan at Artissima, marking the gallery's fifth year at the fair, dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue and supporting voices from Central and Eastern Europe and post-Soviet regions.
