Armando Perna and Fabrizio Bellomo explore unfinished architectures in Bari

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The gallery Voga in Bari hosts a dual solo exhibition by artists Armando Perna (born 1981, Reggio Calabria) and Fabrizio Bellomo (born 1982, Bari), focusing on unfinished architectures as concrete testimonies of a failed but never abandoned future. Perna's photographic investigation spans Beirut and the Shatila refugee camp in his project The Twilight World (2013-2018) and the Aspromonte region in Presente infinito (2015-ongoing), which evolved into the 2024 light box series Case. His work navigates the thin line between urban complexity and ruins, emphasizing human presence without folklore or nostalgia. Bellomo's project Ksamil documents partially demolished and still inhabited buildings along the Albanian coast, declared abusive, linking Albania to Bari through aesthetic and historical ties. A concurrent solo show of Bellomo is at the Piramide in Tirana. The exhibition also features a collaborative video projection titled Mirto, originating from Bellomo's two-channel installation 'Nziembru (2024) and his family home in Calabria. The works reject crystallization in the past, looking through trauma toward the future.
