Armando Martins Collection Opens at Palácio do Correio-Mor

exhibition · 2026-05-05

On May 25, the Armando Martins collection was unveiled at the Palácio do Correio-Mor, an 18th-century palace located near Lisbon, coinciding with the launch of Arco Lisboa. This exhibition, curated by Duarte Martins, is open by appointment and will be available until July 15. It showcases 39 pieces from 32 artists, including notable names such as Marina Abramović, Olafur Eliasson, and Liam Gillick. While ten artworks are positioned in the courtyards, the remainder is displayed indoors, harmonizing with the palace's exquisite furnishings, draperies, and azulejos, which the Martins family has owned for eight years. The curatorial strategy highlights aesthetic and conceptual links, fostering a dialogue between the art and the historical space, aiming to intertwine the palace's narrative with the artworks' unsettling qualities.
