Arman retrospective at Palazzo Cipolla in Rome
Palazzo Cipolla in Rome hosts 'Arman 1954–2005', a retrospective of the French-born American artist Arman (1928–2005), curated by Germano Celant. The exhibition runs until July 23, 2017, and is organized by Fondazione Roma / Terzo Pilastro in collaboration with Civita, the Arman Marital Trust, and Corice Arman Trustee. Gallerist Marisa Del Re, who represented Arman for two decades, also contributed. The show features accumulations, poubelles, and colères, presenting a polished, aestheticized view of the artist's work. Emmanuele F.M. Emanuele, president of both Fondazione Roma and Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo, conceived the exhibition. The display, while celebratory, evokes nostalgia for the original shock of Arman's object-based practice, which began in the 1950s alongside Yves Klein.
