Arianna Carossa's Pop-Up Exhibition at New York's Metropolitan Building

Italian artist Arianna Carossa (Genoa, 1973) presents 'In the Trees,' a pop-up exhibition at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, New York, conceived as a spiritual farewell to the studio she has used for four years. The show features her sculptures made from unfired clay, honeycomb, wax, and Himalayan salt, alongside paintings that blend organic residues with classical art references. Collaborators include sound designer Marc Urselli, painter Adriano Valeri, and Isabella Rossellini's ecological farm supplying wax from her bees. The exhibition is produced under the patronage of the Eleanor Ambos Foundation and dedicated to the memory of Eleanor Ambos, who died on April 20, 2020. The Metropolitan Building, originally a power plant, was transformed into a deco-style castle by Eleanor Ambos and later co-managed with entrepreneur Jorge Mesenes, who resisted converting it into luxury apartments to preserve its poetic spirit. Carossa was introduced to the couple four years ago by mutual friend Michele Capozzi, a famous pornographer, and has since used the basement workshop and upper floors for production, showrooms, and events.
