Arianna Carossa's 'Massetere' at Fonderia Battaglia

Arianna Carossa's solo exhibition 'Massetere' at Fonderia Battaglia in Milan transforms the foundry's spaces with a deliberately unfaithful reinterpretation of the horse as an iconographic theme. The show is split into two rooms: an old workshop filled with objects and machinery emits the sound of a horse's neigh, rendered obsessive and disturbing through repetition and volume; on the ground floor, sculptures and painting-sculptures combine abstraction and referentiality. Carossa (Genoa, 1973; lives in New York) uses materials like polyurethane and assembled found objects, creating works that are both precariously balanced and structurally sound. The exhibition runs until October 27, 2016.
