Arianna Carossa's 'Destiny' Blends Art and Epigenetics at Pasteur Institute
Arianna Carossa (Genoa, 1973) presents 'Destiny,' a site-specific exhibition at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, curated by Jamie Kulhanek and Rossella Farinotti. The project originated from a collaboration with epigenetics researcher Germano Cecere, exploring identity, free will, and genetic determinism. Works include 'Inspira, espira,' featuring nitroglycerin canisters with hands and laughter audio; 'Milky Constellation,' terracotta nipples arranged as stars; 'Loto Meccanico,' a sculpture of the artist's legs in lotus position lifted by a car jack; and 'Mani in gabbia,' hands moving frantically in open metal cages. Carossa also led a two-month workshop for PhD students, teaching right-brain techniques. Some installations will enter the Musée Pasteur collection.
