Aria Days: Tomàs Saraceno's Aerocene Flights at Manifattura Tabacchi

From September 11 to 13, 2020, Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence hosts Aria Days, a public program tied to Tomàs Saraceno's exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi. The event is part of the Aerocene Flights project, which explores eco-sustainable flight using solar heat and infrared radiation, avoiding fossil fuels. Saraceno, an Argentine artist based in Germany, integrates social, environmental, and scientific concerns into his work, advocating for the Aerocene philosophy—an interdisciplinary community promoting ecological awareness through participatory experiments. At Manifattura Tabacchi, the former industrial site becomes a launchpad for Saraceno's Aerocene Sculptures, which rise solely on solar energy. The collaboration between Manifattura Tabacchi and Palazzo Strozzi aims to bridge Florence's historic center and periphery, blending Renaissance heritage with contemporary innovation.
