Argentine Artist Agus Rúcula Unveils Mural in Milan's San Siro District
Argentine artist Agus Rúcula (b. 1991) has completed a new mural titled MUDEC CHIAMA SAN SIRO at via Segesta 11, corner via Preneste, in Milan's San Siro district. Inaugurated on March 29, 2025, the work was created in collaboration with Milanese illustrator Elena Mistrello. The mural explores the theme of travel from two perspectives: the desire for discovery and the abandonment of one's place of origin. Rúcula, who studied Industrial Design in Buenos Aires, began street art in 2012 with her first mural on Avenida Cabildo. She later traveled to Colombia to deepen her practice and has since painted in Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, and Italy. For the San Siro project, she engaged with local residents and students through a collage workshop and informal meetings. Rúcula emphasizes the social role of street art, particularly in marginalized areas, and aims to represent underrepresented bodies in public space. She also acknowledges the potential for gentrification through such projects. The mural was organized as part of a broader initiative connecting the MUDEC museum with the San Siro neighborhood.
