ArcoLisboa goes online as JustMad and JustLX postpone to 2021
ArcoLisboa launched a digital edition on May 20, running until June 14, after its physical event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The online platform, created in collaboration with Artsy, replicates the fair's structure with a General Programme featuring mostly Spanish and Portuguese galleries, an Opening section curated by Kunsthalle Lissabon for first-time exhibitors, and Focus Africa curated by Paula Nascimento. Weekly Curators and Collectors Pick presentations and live forums with experts are also included. Italian galleries Monitor (Rome/Lisbon) and Madragoa (Lisbon) are among the few Italian participants. Meanwhile, JustMad and JustLX have been postponed to 2021. JustMad will open registrations in June 2020 for its February 2021 edition, while JustLX will now take place May 13–16, 2021, coinciding with ArcoLisboa's rescheduled dates. Enrique Polanco of Art Fairs noted that small online auctions with works starting at €300 have been successful in maintaining market activity, especially among younger collectors.
